Posted on October 7, 2022 by Casey O'Hara We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who participated in the Coalition’s 15th annual Project: Back to School! Thanks to you all we were able to distribute more than 4,000 backpacks filled with essential school supplies including notebooks, binders, pencils, calculators, PPE, and more to children in 38 shelters throughout New York City. Your generosity has made an enormous impact on thousands of homeless children’s lives. Thanks to you, these kids were able to walk into school on the first day of class feeling supported and prepared for the year ahead. A special thanks to 400 Capital Management, Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP, AIG, Mazars, and Carolina Herrera for raising precious funds and assembling hundreds of backpacks filled with essential school supplies! Tonight, more than 11,000 homeless schoolkids will sleep in New York City shelters. Starting a new school year inevitably comes with challenges, but for our city’s homeless youth the challenges and stresses they face are unimaginable. A gift as small as a backpack can make a huge difference in alleviating some of that stress and enabling students to start the year off on the right foot. Thank you for being an invaluable partner in this work and for helping homeless children succeed in the classroom and beyond! There’s still time to support Project: Back to School!
