Posted on January 10, 2022 by Zoë Johnson Thanks to you, we gave away more than 10,000 toys this holiday season to homeless kids in 50 NYC shelters! This was our second year running a fully virtual drive (but with real toys, of course!). Despite the challenges of a surging pandemic, it was a huge success. Coalition for the Homeless’ Bound for Success Site Supervisor, Maria Aguilar, sorts toy donations. We delivered action figures, building blocks, jewelry kits, Barbie dolls, and so much more, bringing cheer to kids and families who spent the holidays in shelters. While the new COVID-19 variant surged and supply chain concerns rocked the City, you stepped up to make sure thousands of children still experienced the joy of the season. Thousands of people and more than 33 companies contributed this year, including Andersen Tax, Antin Infrastructure Partners, HelloFresh, Carnegie Corporation, CP Capital, Focus Financial Partners, Mazar’s USA LLP, Schonfeld, Siguler Guff, and Simcorp USA. Samaritan Daytop Village, 93rd Avenue Family Residence, one of our shelter recipients. NY1 News and Telemundo helped spread the word about the Toy Drive, and all of your shares, likes, and retweets made a huge difference! We’ve been collecting toys for homeless children for more than two decades. With our new Home Is Hope Campaign, we are working toward a day when no person, family, or child spends the holidays – or any day – in a shelter. Until then, thank you for helping us bring smiles to thousands of kids who spent the holiday season in New York City shelters.
