From the Theater District and Times Square to downtown and the financial district, the homeless population seems to be swelling and the statistics support the perception. Over the past ten years, the number of people sleeping in shelters around Manhattan has increased 78 percent, from nearly 33,000 in July 2005 to over 58,000 in July 2015.
