With the Metropolitan Pavilion transformed into a sleek Chelsea gallery space and work from Andy Warhol, Ed Ruscha, Jenny Holzer, and Glenn Ligon up for grabs, Artwalk NY provided a tony tribute to the tireless work of New York’s Coalition for the Homeless. The heated bidding of the live auction may have provided the audience with a few moments of glamorous excitement—including the opportunity to win Hollywood legend Richard Gere—but the evening’s underlying focus was less about bidding and more about systemic social change.
