Crisis Intervention

The Crisis Intervention Program helps homeless and at-risk New Yorkers with almost any problem on a walk-in basis.

Crisis Intervention Director Tony Taylor

If you have a question about accessing shelter or other services, including if you have been denied access to shelter, please call 1-888-358-2384, the Crisis Intervention emergency hotline, and leave a detailed message, including your phone number. We will do our best to respond to you as soon as possible. Please note that the Crisis Intervention Program is based in NYC and only able to respond to questions regarding NYC services.

For 40 years, the Coalition’s Crisis Intervention Program has been a singular refuge, where anyone in New York who is unsheltered, homeless, on the brink of homelessness or struggling to survive can receive immediate help from our experienced and dedicated advocates. The program provides a full spectrum of services available to meet clients identified needs.

Navigating the NYC shelter system can be a full-time job in itself, and too many are wrongly turned away, are mistreated in shelter, or do not receive accommodations necessary for equal shelter access. Our advocates use their unique expertise of many government systems to ensure that everyone who needs assistance gets the proper help.

Crisis Intervention’s extremely minimal barrier to entry and its highly trained and compassionate staff truly make it a critical safety net for those among us in greatest need.

If you require assistance, you can call our Crisis Intervention Hotline at 1-888-358-2384, advocates are available from 9am-5pm on business days.  If you don’t reach an advocate immediately, please leave a message with your phone number and someone will return your call as soon as possible.  Services are only available to those living in the five boroughs of New York City.

You are also welcome to come by our offices located at 129 Fulton Street.  We suggest you arrive by 9am on the day you choose to come in as intake is limited.
