The Coalition for the Homeless says that the number of single adults in the system in the past year has increased by 10%. In the past decade, that number has more than doubled. The pandemic, advocates say, is making the city’s housing crisis even worse. “The homelessness crisis among single adults has been exacerbated by Covid-19,” said Giselle Routhier, the policy director for the coalition. “COVID-19 has reminded us that housing is health care.”
