Posted on November 22, 2016 Last year, the Coalition for the Homeless, as a lead member of the Campaign 4 NY/NY Housing, fought for a historic commitment from the State to fund 20,000 units of supportive housing over the next 15 years. The State budget passed in April included funding for the first 6,000 of these units, but required a separate MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) to be signed between the Governor and legislative leaders. As this year draws to a close, that MOU is MIA – missing in action. With 62,000 homeless men, women and children sleeping in shelters this winter in NYC alone, New Yorkers cannot wait any longer for desperately needed supportive housing. Help us send 20,000 messages to Albany – one for every supportive housing unit promised – to urge the Governor and the Legislature to Sign the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) today, and fulfill the supportive housing promise made last year.
