She could not find her client, nor could she locate opposing counsel in her client’s case. “Rappaport! Rappaport!” Atuegbu called out repeatedly, referring to Rappaport, Hertz, Cherson & Rosenthal, the firm representing her client’s landlord. The client hadn’t paid her rent for a year and was $15,000 in arrears.
