With Executive Action Taking Effect, Homeless Advocates Keep Focus on Housing

With a statewide executive order requiring that the homeless are sheltered when the mercury hits freezing going into effect Tuesday, advocates say the next necessary step is providing housing for those who now must be indoors during the frosty winter months.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday signed the order requiring municipalities to get the homeless indoors when the temperature is 32 degrees or below, either by will or, if a person is deemed mentally unfit to make the decision to come inside, by force.
