But there has been frustratingly little focus on solutions that have been proven to work. It’s true that we have a crisis on our hands: nearly 80,000 people in our state are homeless. That’s one out of every seven homeless Americans. We have a proven solution for addressing the problem of chronic homelessness: permanent supportive housing, which combines affordable housing with on-site services for people with the highest barriers to housing, like mental illness or addiction.
