Posted on September 16, 2015 by Laura Nahmias in Politico New York Politico New York, By Laura Nahmias Rising numbers of homeless individuals and new contracting rules for homeless shelters led to a 15 percent increase in the number of contracts submitted by City Hall for homeless services, statistics provided by the city comptroller’s office show. Between March and September of this year, the city’s Department of Homeless Services submitted 93 contracts for shelter services, an increase over the same time period in the previous year, when 81 such contracts were submitted.
