Posted on September 20, 2012 by SARAH MURPHY Volunteers are the life-line of the Grand Central Food Program. They are the ones who come out week after week, drive our vans, hand out food, talk with those needing services. Through snow and rain or in the beating sun, our volunteers are there to make sure nearly 1,000 people get fed on the streets of New York City every night of the year. To show how thankful we are, we held a Volunteer Appreciation Celebration on Friday, September 14th. Over 80 people joined us for food, cocktails and raffle prizes including tickets to a comedy show and two tickets to the Coalition’s premier fundraiser, ARTWALK NY. I don’t think our volunteers will ever know how much the few hours they give each week mean to us and those they serve, but we hope they had a good time. We certainly did. Thank you so much to each and every one of our volunteers. We couldn’t do it without you.
