Posted on August 21, 2014 The M35 bus is the only means of transportation in and out of Manhattan for the men and women living in Wards Island homeless shelters. Recently, police have started cracking down on those who live in the shelters and need to use the bus to get into Manhattan for things like medical appointments or job interviews, but often do not have the funds to pay the fare. The residents of Wards Island are asking city officials to consider making this bus — a lifeline for nearly 1,000 homeless New Yorkers — a free shuttle service.
