Posted on November 28, 2012 Mr. Tooley had been coming to the Coalition for the Homeless off and on for years. When he finally had enough of trying to survive on the streets, the Coalition’s Client Advocacy Project helped him secure permanent, affordable housing and then worked with him to obtain his Social Security Disability Insurance benefits. Mr. Tooley knows he is now able to stay in his new home — for good. As Mr. Tooley struggled with the emotional ups and downs that often come with being homeless, he found tranquility in making art. His pieces, which vary greatly in size, are comprised of corrugated cardboard and pieces of colorful gift bags added with painstaking detail. It’s been an honor working with Mr. Tooley for all of these years.
