Posted on March 22, 2013 by GISELLE ROUTHIER Yesterday, Coalition for the Homeless joined the Progressive Caucus of the City Council and over 30 other organizations to launch “13 Bold Progressive Ideas for NYC in 2013.” This policy platform, available at the interactive website 13boldideas.org and for download here, articulates a progressive vision for New York City in the new legislative session. The Coalition for the Homeless is excited to sign on to this broad platform, which includes addressing record homelessness by giving homeless families access to permanent housing resources, such as public housing, Section 8, and HPD-subsidized housing. The platform also calls for a greater commitment to affordable housing for the lowest-income New Yorkers. This comprehensive agenda is intended to inform the debate in the upcoming elections and push for key priorities such as affordable housing, police accountability, low-wage worker organizing, paid sick days, and equitable Hurricane Sandy recovery.
